Speeds Reduced On I-81 In Lebanon County Due To Slippery Conditions: PennDOT

Drivers are urged to proceed with caution on Interstate 81 in Lebanon County, where speeds have been reduced to 55 mph due to wet and slippery conditions, PennDOT announced on Thursday, Jan. 16.

The speed restriction applies to I-81 northbound between Exit 89 (I-78 East – Allentown) and Exit 151A (I-80 East – Stroudsburg), PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler said. The restriction, implemented at 11:40 a.m., comes as light but steady snow creates slippery road conditions across much of District 8.

Crews in all eight counties of the district are patrolling and laying material as needed to combat icy spots, Schreffler said. Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution in these conditions.
